Common billing questions
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. Email billing@chessception.com to cancel — we process it within 48 hours. You keep access until the end of the current period. Self-service cancellation in Dashboard → Billing is coming soon. No retention dark patterns.
How does the 14-day free trial work?
Add a payment method, get full Premium access for 14 days. Cancel any time during the trial — you won't be charged. After 14 days, your selected billing cycle starts.
Can I upgrade or downgrade mid-cycle?
Yes. Upgrades are prorated immediately; downgrades take effect at the next billing cycle.
What happens if a payment fails?
We retry 3 times over 7 days, send email reminders, and notify you in-app. Your account drops to Free if all retries fail. Re-add a payment method to restore access.
Do you offer student or team discounts?
Yes. Verified students get 50% off Premium. Teams of 5+ qualify for bulk pricing — email billing@chessception.com.
Can I get a refund?
Within 14 days of purchase, no questions asked. After 14 days, refunds are at our discretion based on usage.
What is the beta discount?
During the closed beta, Premium is 50% off the regular price as a thank-you for supporting early development. The discounted price is locked in for the duration of your subscription — you won't be bumped to the higher price when beta ends.
